About:
In a world of rapid advances in scientific discovery, with an unprecedented insight and understanding of how the human body works, and technologies available that are reshaping the meaning and value of human existence, the statistics on the U.S. health care system are shocking. While spending more money per capita than any other country in the world, we have worse outcomes on everything from life expectancy to the rates of infectious disease, at least in terms of how we compare to our global neighbors. And, along with the poor performance of our health economy, we have managed to create a system of perverse financial incentives that are paying for the wrong things at the wrong times. People in our health care industry make more money when we are sick and dying and a lot less when we stay healthy.
As bleak as this may appear, The Patient Will See You Now makes clear that we are on the verge of a major revolution that has the very real potential to completely redefine how we think about and use health care services. Who is leading the charge? The new systems of health care will be coming from a partner that we did not even have at the beginning of the twentieth century—the computer and the evolving world of the digital environment.
This important and timely book argues that if we marshal our intellectual and financial resources around this powerful set of tools, we could lessen (and sometimes eliminate) the impacts of disease, provide everyone personalized health care, and ensure that all individuals had the knowledge and power to realize their human potential. And we could do it in our lifetime.

Testimonials:
"Carey Kriz provides a powerful argument for transforming health and building a 21st-century intelligent health system. From personalized care and health information technology to wellness and genomics, this book is an important contribution explaining why we must transform and how to do it."—Newt Gingrich, former Speaker of the House and founder, Center for Health Transformation
"Terrific insight! The Patient Will See You Now predicts the transformation of American healthcare into an industry that is consumer-directed, evidence-based, and far more personalized than what we have today. Author, Carey Kriz, details the dynamics for this change as consumers, increasingly burdened by the cost of their care but also empowered by information and choice, demand more and get more from a system no longer immune to the forces of global competition, price, and quality transparency."—Dr. Bill Crounse, Senior Director, Worldwide Health, Microsoft Corporation
"Carey Kriz hits the nail right on the head. Scientific and medical research has proven that weight training, flexibility, nutrition and an active lifestyle must be incorporated into health (vs. sick) care. There are hundreds of thousands of fitness professionals ready to assume a supporting role and contribute to patients' health care. I hope primary care specialists will understand that treating sickness without prescribing exercise hasn't worked."—Dr. Sal Arria, CEO, International Sports Sciences Association
"Carey Kriz thoughtfully describes a new way of thinking that may solve the dilemma of providing Americans with high quality, convenient health care at reasonable cost. He describes a policy that will utilize new, accurate technology and require an enormous political change in the way health care is structured and delivered. Kriz lays all this out in an organized, rational manner. This is a very important book, which marks the beginning of a new way of thinking about how we will provide health care for all. I urge all to read it."—Dr. Robert Replogle
"Carey Kriz has cracked the code for the future of healthcare. In this book he provides a vision to translate advances in genomics, medicine, communications and information technology into a system that will empower each of us to maximize our potential and truly care for ourselves."—Dr. Paul Schaudies and Dr. Doreen Robinson, GenArraytion, Inc.
"In this timely and pivotal book Mr. Kriz explores a number of the evolutionary phases of 21st-century medicine, with the conclusion obvious to those of us practicing medicine–the need to build an empowered and active patient. As Mr. Kriz correctly observes, knowledge of the genome, while exciting, is only the start. The coming era of patient-centered care predicted by the author will be a vital and exciting time for all members of the community and a chance to rebuild the relationships eroded in the late 20th century."—Dr. Douglas Robertson, president, Foundation Radiology Group
